6 Spring Cleaning Hacks You Need In Your Life

Spring is fast approaching, and that also means it’s time to start thinking about some spring cleaning hacks that will save you both time and money. Let’s be honest, cleaning your house is not the most fun thing there is to do. But you know, it has to be done. From organizing, re-organizing, throwing stuff out, selling stuff, oiling door hinges and more, spring cleaning can seem pretty daunting.

Like most moms, I’m a busy mom, so I don’t want to spend hours cleaning my home. I have millions of other things to do – my 9-5 job, being a mom, running a blogging business etcetera.

Over the years I have gathered some spring cleaning hacks that I use to help keep my home pristine. I’ll be sharing them here with you today.

Below are 6 simple cleaning hacks that you can use to get your home squicky clean this spring.

1. Declutter

Ok, spring cleaning hack number one –  before you even start, first things first.

Declutter, declutter, and declutter some more. Purge that house and leave only the stuff that you know you need or stuff that has sentimental value to you.

Decluttering your home before you begin cleaning will make your life so much easier. Just sort your clothes and other household items into three categories:

  • Throw
  • Recycle
  • Charity store
  • Keep

2. Use Ketchup To Polish Your Brass Faucets

Ketchup works wonders on brass faucets. When I got my brass kitchen faucet, I thought I would have to polish it every single day (imagine the kind of struggle, wasn’t happening). Turns out, polishing my brass faucet just once a week is enough.  I just polish my brass with a tiny bit of ketchup, rinse it off, and that’s it.

3. Protect Your Oven with Tin Foil

Consider cleaning the oven glass immediately after use and always use a sheet of tin foil at the bottom of your oven to catch any spills. It will make your life so much easier I promise! And your elbows will thank you for it.

4. White Vinegar

White vinegar has got to be the most versatile product when it comes to homemade house cleaning products. It is mildly acidic and is therefore really good at cutting through grease. You can also use it as a deodorizer, stain remover, disinfectant, and as a bleach.

5. Spring Cleaning Hacks for A Sparkling Clean Microwave

Place a plastic bowl of water with half a lemon in your microwave and heat on high for about five minutes. Carefully remove the bowl from the microwave and wipe the surfaces. Steam loosens any stuck food, and the lemon provides that all natural fresh lemon scent.

6. Wash Plastic Toys in The Dishwasher

Place your little ones plastic toys in the dishwasher and wash them with your usual dishwashing detergent. The dishwasher will not only make your child’s toys sparkling clean, but it will sanitize them too.

No need to spend tons of money on spring cleaning products or develop sore elbows from all the scrubbing. With these 6 frugal spring cleaning hacks, you save money and get your home sparkling clean for cheap. So why not try them out and let me know what you think!
