While many of us love the summer, with the beautiful weather and the lovely long days, there is one concern that parents in all corners of the world are going to share; how on earth do you entertain kids during summer break? Six weeks or more is a long time and the last thing that you are going to want is bored children. Don’t worry my friend; I’ve got your back! I’ve created a list of four summer activities for kids for you to try out. And the good news is, you won’t have to break the bank to keep your kids entertained this summer (unless you want to 😀 )!
I for one believe that you don’t have to end up spending a small fortune throughout the summer holidays, just so your kids don’t get bored. If you want to have happy kids through the summer holidays, then take a look at some of my top tips for ways to keep your kids busy during the summer.
Summer Activities for Kids
1. Plan A Cooking or Baking Day
You will be hard-pressed to find a kid who doesn’t love cooking or baking in some form. After all, it is a pretty messy (not to mention tasty) activity.
This means that it does make sense to try and plan in one day a week where you cook or bake with the kids (and make a proper mess, they love it).
Give your kids an assortment of recipes and let them pick what they want to make, and you will be sure to keep them entertained, if only for a couple of hours. Summer activities for kids don’t have to be complicated at all.
2. Create Your Own Assault Course
Do not underestimate the amount of fun that you can have in your own garden. Why not set the kids the task of creating an assault course that they can then tackle?
Find an assortment of bits from around your home and put them out throughout the garden and then watch as they try and make their way through it.
Water balloon games are also an excellent way of keeping your kids entertained and cooled during the hot summer months. I mean how many kids will say no to a water balloon toss game?
3. Camp, At Home
Kids love camping; however, for us adults, it can be a huge hassle to pack for and set up. So, why not set up your tent and camping stuff in your own garden. Your kids will get the benefit of being under canvas, but there is always going to be a clean and empty toilet to hand.
You could even take this one step further and set up your own mini-festival for the day, where you listen to music, dress up and just generally have a great time.
4. Task Your Kids With Making A Scrapbook
Arts and crafts are always a favorite activity for children, however, without structure, these can sometimes turn into chaos.
If you have older children, then you can set them a task which not only gives them something to focus on but also gives them an arts and crafts project to do.
Get them a scrapbook and get them to fill it out. You can also ask your kids to draw, paint and stick information about their adventures in their scrapbooks. Their scrapbooks will be interesting for you and your kids to go through once the summer is over.
It doesn’t have to be hard to make sure that your kids have the very best summer. All it takes is some careful thought.
So why not try out some of these summer activities for kids and see if your kids have a great time. Try them all before the kids have to head back to the daily routine of school.
