How To Make Your House Smell Really Good this Christmas

How To Make Your House Smell Really Good this Christmas

It’s no secret that the smells that we encounter can trigger emotions and memories (a bunch of them). And that’s because scents are very closely linked with our memory. One whiff of cinnamon spice, a proper chai brewing on the stove, and clove-studded oranges and I’m lost in Christmas wonderland. It’s the best feeling ever! Below I share with you three tips to help you make your house smell really good and Christmasy this Christmas. Give them a try and let me know what you think:

1. Cloves and Oranges

This is one of the easiest ways to make your home smell really good this Christmas. It’s also a great way to keep your kids busy as it is fun and easy to do. All you need are some oranges, red ribbon, and a good handful or so of dried cloves.

To decorate your oranges, press the dried cloves (they smell so good) into the oranges, in a pattern of your choice. Now, you can either hang the decorated oranges using the red ribbon or tie a cute bow around them and place them on a table in a decorative fruit bowl.

2. Apple and Cinnamon Stovetop Potpourri

Oh, apple and cinnamon – nothing says Christmas better than the combination of these two exceptional ingredients.

Fill a deep saucepan with water and add chopped apples, cinnamon sticks, and cloves. Simmer on low heat and let the wonderful nostalgic scents of Christmas fill your home.

You can also switch things up by substituting the apples with lemon or orange peel for a more citrus and refreshing Christmas scent.

3. Bring the Forest Indoors

Fill your home with the beautiful, cozy scents of the forest this Christmas with this fantastic forest simmer pot. It’s effortless to put together, and your house will be smelling like Christmas in no time.

Fill a medium-size saucepan with some water and add some pine branches, cinnamon sticks, fresh rosemary sprigs, and cloves. Leave your pine forest stove potpourri to simmer on low heat and let the beautiful scents of the forest fill your home.

As you can see, filling your home with the best Christmas scents is fun, cheap, and easy to do. So why not give these three ideas a go and make your house smell really good this Christmas? I’m pretty sure you’ll like them as much as I do.
