Want to look like your favorite celeb but lack the money to do so? That’s ok; you don’t need a millionaire’s account to afford fabulous looking clothes. Looking expensive doesn’t have to cost you a fortune. Below, I share exactly how you can make cheap clothes look expensive for less.
1. Avoid Fast Fashion
Fast fashion (i.e., clothes bought from places like H&M and Zara) cost the environment a lot. And with global warming still on the rise, we need to start buying fewer fast fashion clothes.
High-quality, timeless clothes make this possible. The clothes last way longer than fast fashion clothes and because they are timeless, you will look good and expensive for years.
2. Shop At Thrift Stores
I always say that thrift stores are like treasure troves full of beautiful things waiting for you to find. You can find lovely quality blazers at thrift stores that you can use to layer casual pieces such as jeans or silky dresses.
3. Make Cheap Clothes Look Expensive by Keeping Things Simple
Sleek, simple outfits look expensive. For example, a pair of dark blue jeans, a crisp white shirt, and a beautiful pair of simple heels will never look cheap. So when in doubt, go simple.
4. Leave the Washing Machine Alone
No seriously, leave it alone. Washing machines and tumble dryers will make even the toughest of clothes look cheap in no time. Underwear, socks, and T-shirts (or anything that comes into contact with armpits) – wash after each use, please. However, trousers and especially jeans do not require constant washing.
5. Use Well-fitted Underwear
It doesn’t matter what you are wearing, bumps and ill-fitted clothes will make your outfit look super cheap. A good quality slip and bra minimize those bumps and make cheap clothes look expensive without you even trying.
6. Invest In Eye-catching Accessories
Invest in a pair of dress shoes or earrings to achieve that eye-catching expensive look. Bold golden earrings will make any outfit look expensive.
